Branch Open Meetings
We were delighted that so many branch members, supporters and families affected by MND were able to join us at our Christmas Social at the Wycliffe Rooms in Lutterworth. It was a most enjoyable event with entertainment provided by the Rock Choir delicious food supplied by Little Betty’s of Coalville and a delightful array of stalls selling various crafts, Indian foods and Christmas cards. We also welcomed some very special guests including South Leicestershire MP Albert Costa, MND researcher and campaigner Professor Ammar el-Chalabi – and, of course Santa Claus, who made an early visit to bring some special presents for all the children present!
Normally we aim to hold at least 4 social meetings a year along with our regular informal support meetings for patients and carers held at various venues around the county. We know that many of you really miss these opportunities to drop in for a chat with others at a local cafe or garden centre. However, the current Covid situation means that we are unable to plan ahead as usual and publish our annual calendar of meetings and events. Instead, as and when meetings are arranged, we will post details on the Events page of this website and Facebook .
Home Visits
We hope that the Covid situation will soon allow our Association Visitors ( AV’s) to start making regular home visits again. If you or a member of your family would like such a visit, please contact your AV or Jenny Holmes Shuttlewood directly or via the MND Nurses, Omina and Katie. Our team of AV’s are, of course, still happy to keep in touch via telephone or by email if you prefer so please let us know if you would like one of our AV team to make contact with you or a member of your family in this way..
The MND Patients’ Group
The Leicestershire and Rutland MND Patients’ Group is led by a group of local people living with MND. As well as keeping in touch via Facebook and meeting up on clinic days at LOROS, they also arrange social events and other activities which they hope to be able to resume in 2022.
