Huge congratulations to MND Association Patron Kevin Sinfield OBE who has now raised over £2.5 million for the MND Association and the Leeds Hospital Trust by running 101 miles in just 24 hours! Seeing his friend and fellow Leeds Rhinos rugby player Rob Burrow MBE coping with the challenges of living with MND has made him determined to do all he can to raise funds to support the work of the Association and to build a specialist MND Care Centre in Rob’s honour. Now a coach with the Leicester Tigers, his latest challenge involved running all the way from the Mattioli Woods Stadium at Welford Rd. Leicester to the Headingley home of the Rhinos.
Branch members and supporters were out in force to support him on the part of his journey that took him through Leicestershire. The Needham family were honoured to be asked to ring the bell to send him off from Birstall on the second leg of his run and Omina Yasmin (MND Nurse) and branch committee member Barbara Strevens rang the bell to see him on his way at Barrow on Soar. His final stop in the County was at Prestwold Hall near Loughborough where another group of branch members was thrilled to meet him, ring the bell and wish him well as he continued with his epic journey. We all felt privileged to meet such an amazingly brave and humble man – Kevin definitely won our hearts and has become our branch hero!
